Biped
(Like and sharing game for your friends)
Biped is a physics-driven co-op adventure that hands you two tiny bipedal robots, Aku and Sila, and asks you to walk them across a beautiful, half-wild planet. We downloaded the package, ran it on our test rig, and spent several evenings working through the early levels with a second player on the couch. What follows is an honest breakdown of how the game actually plays, what the two-stick control scheme feels like in your hands, and where the experience stumbles.

What Biped Actually Is
Biped is not a platformer in the traditional sense. You do not press a jump button and watch a character hop on autopilot. Instead, each of your robot's legs is bound to one analog stick, and walking becomes a rhythmic alternation: left, right, left, right. Our first ten minutes with the controls were clumsy — I walked Aku straight off a ledge twice before I understood the timing. Then something clicks, and suddenly you are steering both legs independently, pivoting on one foot to turn, and sliding down slopes with deliberate precision.
The story is light but charming. Aku and Sila arrive on Earth to reignite a network of planetary beacons that guide navigation across the stars. That premise carries you through ruins, icy cliffs, canyon waterfalls, and dense forests. It is a simple frame, but it gives the levels a sense of purpose beyond pure obstacle clearing.
Key Features
- Two-stick control scheme: every action maps to the two analog sticks, giving you full manual control over each leg.
- Co-op built into the design: levels assume two players, though a solo mode exists with a single character controlling both sides.
- 30 distinct levels: environments range from forgotten ruins to icy cliffs, canyon waterfalls, and lush forest paths.
- Varied puzzle logic: some stages reward synchronization, others reward coordinated lifting and pulling, and a few test trust between partners.
- Treasure collection: hidden collectibles scattered through each level unlock outfits and accessories for your Biped.
- Multi-language support: eleven screen languages including English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and both Chinese variants.
How the Co-op Feels in Practice
After downloading and running the game with a friend, the thing that stood out most was how much the levels depend on communication. One early puzzle required us to link arms and cross a narrow beam; my partner had to match my leg rhythm exactly or we both tipped over. We failed five times, laughed, and then nailed it. That loop — failure, adjustment, success — is the core of Biped.
Our team found the difficulty curve uneven. The opening stages are forgiving and teach the rhythm gently, but the mid-game spikes hard. One canyon section with moving platforms took us nearly forty minutes because the timing window for the jump was so narrow that a fraction of a second of desync sent both robots into the water. It is satisfying when you clear it, but it is also the point where a casual partner may lose patience.
Solo play works, but I would not recommend it as your first run. Controlling both legs of one robot with two sticks is manageable; controlling a second character simultaneously is a genuine handful. The game is designed around two people, and it shows.
Visuals, Sound, and Performance
The art direction is clean and colorful, with soft lighting that makes the forest and waterfall stages genuinely pleasant to look at. Load times on our machine were short — the package is only 2MB, so startup is nearly instant once the installer finishes. We did notice the camera occasionally clipping through terrain on tight corners, and the physics engine can produce odd results when both robots collide at speed. Nothing game-breaking, but you will see a robot fold into an unnatural shape now and then.
Audio is understated: gentle ambient tracks that fit the pristine-planet theme, plus small mechanical clicks for footsteps that help you feel the rhythm of your own walking.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: genuinely original control scheme; strong co-op focus that rewards real teamwork; 30 varied levels; charming art and music; treasure system adds replay value; wide language support.
- Cons: steep mid-game difficulty spikes; solo mode is awkward; occasional camera clipping; physics glitches during high-speed collisions; requires a patient second player to shine.
Version Freshness and Publisher Details
The listing we tested is labeled v01.000.002, which we are flagging as an estimated version number based on the release entry rather than a confirmed build string. The package is credited to developer psp and distributed through the DLPS Team archive. The page includes a backport note for 4.xx and higher firmware, which matters if you are running an older console setup. Screen language options are broad, so you can switch to Spanish, French, or Korean without hunting for a separate patch.
If you enjoy this one, the sequel is already listed — you can grab Biped 2 Free Download for a follow-up with more levels and refined controls. Players who prefer a different flavor of action adventure might also look at Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Deluxe Edition.
Who Should Play It
Biped suits couples, siblings, and friends who want a cooperative game that demands actual coordination rather than passive button mashing. If you are looking for a solo action game, this is not the right pick. If you have a second player who enjoys puzzles and does not mind retrying a section a dozen times, you will get a lot out of it.
