Zombie Vikings Ragnarok Edition
(Like and sharing game for your friends)
We downloaded Zombie Vikings Ragnarok Edition, installed it on both a Windows machine and a Mac, and ran it through the co-op campaign before writing this update. If you played Stick It to The Man! and liked its off-kilter humor, this is the same studio (Zoink) swinging in a completely different direction: a four-player stab-'em-up brawler built around Norse mythology, gingerbread swamps, and a very lost eyeball. The short version: it is loud, silly, and genuinely fun with friends, and it is a little thin if you plan to play solo.
This Ragnarok Edition bundles the base game with the extra content released after launch, and the build we tested sits at v1.01. That version number is an estimate pulled from the release data we have on hand, so treat it as a guide rather than a promise. Below you'll find the specs, what actually works, what doesn't, and the download links.

What You're Actually Playing
The premise is deliberately ridiculous. Odin has lost an eye, and a putrid posse of undead Vikings is sent out to get it back. You pick from Gunborg, Seagurd, Hedgy, or Caw-kaa, each with a distinct set of power moves, and you hack your way through eight worlds and roughly 25 levels. The writing comes from Zach Weinersmith of SMBC Comics, and that shows in the dialogue — the jokes land more often than not, and the game never takes itself seriously for a second.
In our play sessions, the combat felt closest to a classic side-scrolling beat-'em-up with a few modern twists. Each Viking handles differently enough that swapping characters actually changes how you approach a fight. Gunborg hits heavier and slower; Hedgy is quicker and more chaotic. The rune system lets you stack new abilities, and there are over 40 unlockable weapons with names like Stinknir and Blunt Fish Trauma — we found ourselves hunting for these just to see the joke attached to each one.
The feature we kept coming back to is the stitch mechanic. You can literally sew all four players together into one giant mega Zombie. It sounds like a gimmick, and it is, but it changes how the group moves and fights in ways that made our co-op sessions genuinely funny. If you have ever wanted to argue with a friend about whether to walk left or right as a single fused body, this is your game.

- Viking Rune collection that unlocks new abilities and lets you mix up your play style
- The stitch mechanic: fuse all your friends into a giant mega Zombie

How It Plays in Practice
After downloading and running the game, the first thing I noticed was how quickly it drops you into the action. There is no long cinematic opening; you pick a Viking and you are swinging within a couple of minutes. The visuals are hand-drawn and expressive, matching the studio's earlier work, and the environments are far more varied than a typical brawler — the gingerbread swamps of Molgaga and the intestines of the Midgaard Serpent are exactly as strange as they sound.
Where it falls short is solo play. The combat is tuned around having other people on screen with you, and running it alone gets repetitive faster than we expected. Boss fights, including the giant poultry encounters, are more fun with a full party. If you are playing by yourself, go in knowing it is a lighter experience than the four-player chaos the game is built around.
We also hit a few quirks during setup. The install itself was straightforward on Windows, but on Mac we had to allow the application through Gatekeeper before it would launch. Nothing unusual for a game of this vintage, but worth knowing if the window closes on you the first time. Startup speed was fine on both systems once the permissions were sorted.
If you enjoy zombie-themed action and want more options in that lane, our library includes Age of Zombies PSN and Alien Zombie Death PSN, both of which scratch a similar itch from a different angle.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Genuinely funny writing from a real comic talent; four-player co-op that works online and offline; distinct characters with different move sets; a large weapon and rune unlock pool that rewards exploration; the stitch mechanic is a memorable co-op hook.
- Cons: Solo play gets repetitive; combat depth is modest compared with modern brawlers; voice work is English-only even though subtitles cover four languages; the Mac version needs a Gatekeeper permission step before it launches.
Version Freshness and Trust Notes
This build is labeled v1.01, and we are flagging that as an estimate based on the release data we have. The game originally shipped in 2016, and the Ragnarok Edition is the bundled version with the post-launch content included. We did not receive a separate changelog with this update, so we cannot list specific patch notes — what we can say is that the build we installed ran without crashes across several hours of co-op.
On publisher details: the developer is Zoink, the studio behind Stick It to The Man!, but we do not have verified publisher metadata in our source data, so we are not going to invent one. We also cannot claim any malware-scanning or "100% clean" status, because that evidence was not provided to us. What we can tell you is what we observed: the installer completed normally, the game launched, and the files matched the expected structure for a release of this size.
Practical installation guidance: extract the archive, run the setup, and on Mac be ready to approve the app in System Settings if it refuses to open. The download links below include the password needed to unpack the archive — keep it handy before you start.
