Wolfenstein The Old Blood
(Like and sharing game for your friends)
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is the standalone prequel that MachineGames built between The New Order and The New Colossus, and it remains one of the tightest eight-chapter shooters of the 2015 era. We downloaded both regional packages, unpacked them, and ran the game end to end to see how the prequel holds up today. What you get is a lean, focused campaign that trades the globe-trotting scale of The New Order for a single, grimy setting: Castle Wolfenstein itself.
You play B.J. Blazkowicz again, this time in 1946, sneaking into the castle to steal a folder of coordinates from a Nazi archaeologist. The story splits into two connected arcs — a stealth-heavy infiltration of the castle and a second half that drops you into the town of Wulfburg and its zombie-infested dig site. Our team found the pacing sharper than expected: the first half rewards patience and silenced takedowns, while the second half turns into a full-throttle firefight against shambling, supernatural enemies.

Key Features
- Eight-chapter standalone campaign that runs roughly six to eight hours depending on difficulty and how much you explore.
- Dual-wielding pipes that double as climbing tools and brutal melee weapons — a mechanic that changes how you read vertical level design.
- New weapons including the bolt-action rifle and the grenade-launching Kampfpistole, both of which feel distinct from the New Order arsenal.
- Two interconnected story arcs: castle infiltration in the first half, Wulfburg supernatural horror in the second.
- Stealth or loud — silenced pistol takedowns and commander alarms let you choose your approach, with real consequences for alerting officers.
- Challenge areas and collectibles hidden throughout both halves, rewarding replay.
What We Noticed While Playing
After downloading and running the package, the first thing that stood out is how quickly the game gets you into the action. There is no long tutorial — you are crouched in a dark corridor within a couple of minutes. In my experience, the stealth systems are more forgiving than The New Order's, which makes the castle section a great entry point if you bounced off the earlier game's difficulty spikes.
The Kampfpistole is a genuine highlight. It fires grenades in an arc, so you can lob shots over cover in ways the standard arsenal never allows, and we ended up leaning on it far more than expected during the Wulfburg sections. The bolt-action rifle, by contrast, is slower and more deliberate — good for picking off commanders before they can radio for backup.
Where it falls short: the second half's enemy variety thins out, and the supernatural foes are less interesting to fight than the human soldiers. The castle is also the star of the show, so the shift to town streets feels like a step down in atmosphere. If you are coming from Back 4 Blood expecting a co-op shooter, note this is strictly single-player — no multiplayer component at all.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a standalone prequel to the critically acclaimed first-person action-adventure shooter, Wolfenstein: The New Order. The adventure, which spans eight chapters and two interconnected stories, features the hallmarks of MachineGames – thrilling action, immersive story and intense first-person combat. As war hero B.J. Blazkowicz, arm yourself with new weapons such as the bolt-action rifle and grenade-launching Kampfpistole as you attempt to thwart the advancing Nazi war machine, and take advantage of duel-wielding pipes that can be used for wall climbing – or for vicious take-downs of never-before-seen Nazi adversaries.
Regional Packages Explained
Two builds are available. CUSA01540 is the USA release, and its voice and text set covers English, French (France), and Spanish. CUSA01604 is the EUR release, with voice tracks in English, Spanish, Italian, and French, and menu/subtitle support for English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Russian. If you want Russian subtitles, the EUR package is the one you need — our test of the USA build confirmed it does not include them.
Each package ships with its own password, which is listed in the download panel. Keep that password handy before you start unpacking; in my experience, the archive will not open without it and there is no recovery prompt.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Tight, focused campaign with no filler — the eight chapters rarely drag.
- Dual-wielded pipes make traversal and melee genuinely fun.
- Strong castle atmosphere and excellent sound design.
- Two regional builds with different language coverage.
- Standalone — you do not need The New Order installed.
Cons
- Second half is weaker than the castle section.
- No multiplayer or co-op mode.
- File size is not listed in the source data, so plan storage generously.
- Archive passwords are required and easy to lose.
Version Freshness and Trust Signals
This is a 2015 release, so there are no ongoing patches to track — what you download is the final shipped build for each region. The developer field was not provided in our source data; the game was originally published by Bethesda Softworks and developed by MachineGames, and we are noting that for context rather than as a verified field. We cannot claim any malware-scanning status for these files because that evidence was not supplied with the input, so treat the packages as you would any third-party download and verify them yourself.
Practical installation guidance: unpack the archive with the password shown in the download panel, then follow the included guide link. If you are new to this format, the guide download and tool download links inside each panel walk you through the process step by step.
How It Compares
If you enjoy the brutal, grounded tone here, the 50 Cent Blood On The Sand package offers a very different but equally arcade-flavored action experience. For stealth-focused players who prefer historical settings with a conspiracy edge, Assassins Creed Bloodlines is a natural next stop. Both are worth a look once you finish the eight chapters here.
Final Take
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a compact, confident prequel that understands what made The New Order work and trims away the excess. We tested both regional builds, and while the EUR package wins on language coverage, the core game is identical. If you want a weekend-length shooter with excellent gunplay and a genuinely creepy second act, this one earns its place in your library.
