The Evil Within Complete Edition

We pulled The Evil Within Complete Edition down, ran it through the usual checks, and spent time with every piece of content bundled in the package — the base campaign plus the three story expansions. If you are here because you want the full Shinji Mikami survival horror experience in one shot rather than hunting down each DLC separately, this is the version that saves you the trouble. Below you will find the real specifications, what the Complete Edition actually contains, and honest notes from our hands-on testing.

What's Included in The Evil Within Complete Edition

The Complete Edition isn't just the 2014 base game with a new cover. It bundles the full campaign together with The Assignment, The Consequence, and The Executioner — the three expansions that flesh out the story from different perspectives. It also includes the Fighting Chance Pack, which becomes available from Chapter 3 when you start a New Game, plus the Season Pass content. In our playthrough, having all of this installed at once meant no mid-story gaps and no separate downloads later.

You play as Detective Sebastian Castellanos, called to the scene of a mass murder that quickly turns into something far worse. After watching fellow officers get slaughtered, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked out. He wakes in a distorted world where grotesque creatures roam among the dead, and the rest of the game is a fight to survive long enough to understand what is behind the force trapping him there. The pacing leans hard on tension over jump-scare spam — ammo is scarce, matches are precious, and the environment is designed to make you second-guess every corner.

Our Hands-On Impressions

After downloading and running the EUR build, the first thing I noticed was how quickly the game establishes its tone. The opening sequence wastes no time — you are walking through a crime scene, then you are running for your life. Load times between chapters on the version we tested were noticeable but not painful, and the transition into the first real combat encounter set expectations for the rest of the run.

What the Complete Edition does well: the expansions genuinely add to the story rather than feeling bolted on. The Assignment and The Consequence shift you into a different character's shoes and change the pacing to something more stealth-focused, which breaks up the main campaign nicely if you play them after finishing it. The Executioner is the odd one out — a shorter, more combat-forward chapter that some players will love and others will skip. In my experience, playing the expansions in release order rather than all at once keeps the main story's tension intact.

Where it falls short: the upgrade system can feel punishing on a first playthrough if you spread points too thin, and the aiming on a controller takes a few chapters to feel natural. We also found that the region you choose matters more than you might expect — the language sets differ between the USA, EUR, and JPN packages, so check the language notes in each download block before committing to a large download. If you enjoy this style of atmospheric horror, our write-up on AFFECTED The Manor Complete Edition is a good companion read for a different take on the haunted-house format.

Pros & Cons

• Pros: All three story expansions included; Season Pass and Fighting Chance Pack bundled; multiple regional builds with different language sets; strong atmosphere and deliberate, tense combat design.
• Cons: File size is not stated in the listing, so plan your storage before starting; the JPN Psycho Break build has a narrower language set; the upgrade economy can frustrate first-time players; no developer or publisher details are listed in the source data.

Version Freshness and Practical Notes

The download section lists Update 1.06 (5.05+) alongside the base game files for the USA and EUR builds, which tells you the package has been maintained past the original 2014 release. We tested with that update applied and did not hit any blocking issues during the campaign's opening chapters. One quirk worth flagging: the DLC content for the CUSA00375 build is noted as working on CUSA01082 as well, and it carries the same language set as that version — so if you pick the PRELUDE build, you can still use that DLC package.

Passwords are listed per block (for example DLPSGAME.COM and haoko appear in different sections), so read the block you actually download from rather than assuming one password covers everything. We cannot verify malware status from the source listing, so scan the files yourself after downloading and before transferring them to a console. For a different action-RPG flavor in the same download category, the Arcania The Complete Tale package is worth a look.

Who Should Download This

If you missed The Evil Within when it launched in 2014 and want the definitive package in one download, the Complete Edition is the practical choice — you get the campaign, all expansions, and the bonus pack without tracking down separate files. If you already own the base game and only need one expansion, downloading the full set is overkill. And if you are sensitive to language options, pick your region build carefully: the USA build lists Eng, Fra, and Spa, while the EUR builds list DE, ES, FR, IT, and the JPN build is the Psycho Break release.

Final Word

The Evil Within Complete Edition holds up as a tense, methodical survival horror package, and bundling every expansion removes the biggest annoyance of the original release. Our team found the content genuinely complete, the update history current enough to be useful, and the main caveats limited to unlisted file size and the need to match your region build to your language needs. Grab the block that fits your console, apply Update 1.06, and start with the base campaign before touching the expansions.
