Sonic Forces interface on Windows / Mac

Sonic Forces is a high-speed action platformer from the team behind Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, released in 2017. You play through a world that Dr. Eggman has already largely conquered, and you fight back with three distinct playable styles: Modern Sonic's boost-driven 3D stages, Classic Sonic's side-scrolling physics, and a Custom Hero character you build yourself and equip with gadgets. The package on this page covers the USA and EUR builds of the game (CUSA05637 and CUSA05674), with multi-language support and DLC content linked below.

If you're here for a straightforward download, the buttons and tables below give you everything up front — file size, operating system, category, license, and the actual download links preserved from the source page.

What Sonic Forces Actually Is

Sonic Forces opens on a losing war. Dr. Eggman has taken most of the planet using a mysterious new power, and a resistance made up of Sonic's friends forms to push back. You move between three heroes: Modern Sonic, who plays in fast 3D corridors with boost mechanics; Classic Sonic, who returns to the 2D side-scrolling style of his earliest games; and the Custom Hero, a character you design and outfit with a weapon type — such as a burst wispon — that changes how you handle enemies and traversal.

The Custom Hero is the piece that separates this entry from other Sonic titles. You pick a species, adjust appearance, and then choose a gadget that gives you a distinct ability set. Stages are built to be replayed with different wispons, and the game mixes character types within single levels, so you'll switch between 3D speed runs and 2D platforming in the same stage.

The story is delivered through fully voiced cutscenes, and the cast includes Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and a roster of supporting characters. Eggman is joined by a new antagonist, and the resistance framing gives the campaign a tone that leans more toward a war story than a light adventure. If you enjoy the faster, more dramatic side of the series, this sits closer to that than to the playful tone of the classic titles.

For players who like squad-based action with a heavier military framing, our CT Special Forces Back to Hell page covers a very different take on the same "resistance against an overwhelming force" idea.

Key Features

  • Three playable styles in one campaign: Modern Sonic (3D boost action), Classic Sonic (2D side-scrolling), and a Custom Hero you create.
  • Custom Hero creation: Choose species, appearance, and a wispon gadget that defines your combat and movement options.
  • Wispon variety: Different gadgets change how you clear enemies and reach alternate routes, encouraging stage replays.
  • Mixed-stage design: Single levels alternate between character types, so the pacing shifts between speed and platforming.
  • Fully voiced story campaign: Cutscenes carry a resistance-versus-Eggman narrative with a large supporting cast.
  • Multi-language support: The EUR build lists audio in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish, with subtitles in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian, and Spanish.
  • DLC content included: Separate DLC packages are linked in the download section below.
  • Two regional builds: USA (CUSA05637) and EUR (CUSA05674) versions are both provided.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • The Custom Hero system adds genuine replay value that earlier Sonic games don't offer.
  • Switching between 3D boost stages and 2D classic stages keeps the campaign from feeling repetitive.
  • Broad language coverage in the EUR build makes it accessible to a wide audience.
  • The resistance storyline gives the campaign a clear, driving motivation.
  • Both USA and EUR region builds are available, which helps you match your console region.

Cons

  • Stages are short, and the campaign can be finished quickly if you don't chase alternate routes.
  • The three playstyles vary in depth — Classic Sonic's physics differ from the original Genesis games, which some players notice.
  • Custom Hero gear is cosmetic-plus-functional, so you may find yourself replaying levels to unlock parts rather than for challenge.
  • You need to match the correct region build (USA vs. EUR) to your console, which adds a step for some users.

Version Freshness and Package Details

The builds listed here are tagged at version 1.01 with a 5.05+ firmware note in the source material, and the update package is offered separately from the base game in the USA and EUR sections. Treat 1.01 as the version to expect from these links; if you see a different number in your own package, the source page may have rotated its mirrors. The file size shown in the specifications table is 9mb, which reflects the package metadata listed on this page rather than the full installed footprint of a retail game.

Passwords are provided per build in the download sections — for example, the USA Fugazi and High-Speed007 builds use DLP SGAME.COM, while the EUR build under @Playable & hako uses the password "hako." Copy them exactly, since a single character difference will cause extraction to fail. DLC content is linked separately, and the source also points to a general guide and tool download for handling PKG files.

On the publisher side, Sonic Forces was developed by Sonic Team and published by SEGA in 2017. That's the studio history worth knowing when you judge whether the game matches your taste — the same team worked on Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, and this title inherits the boost gameplay from that lineage.

Who This Is For

You'll get the most out of Sonic Forces if you want a fast, stage-based action game with a short campaign and a character creator attached. Players who enjoy chasing S-ranks and alternate routes with different wispons will find more to do than those who play each stage once. If you're specifically after the classic 2D physics of the Genesis era, temper expectations — Classic Sonic here is one third of the game, not the whole thing.

If you're collecting resistance-themed action games, the CT Special Forces 3 Bioterror page is a natural next stop, and Counter Terrorist Special Forces Fire For Effect covers an older squad-shooter take on the same genre space.

Language Support in Detail

The USA builds list English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Polish in the source notes. The EUR build is more specific: audio is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish, while subtitles extend to English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian, and Spanish. If you need Polish or Russian subtitles specifically, the EUR build is the one to grab.

Practical Notes Before You Download

  • Match the region ID to your console: CUSA05637 for USA, CUSA05674 for EUR.
  • Grab the update package separately if you want the 1.01 build rather than the base release.
  • Download the DLC pack from the linked DLC page if you want the additional content.
  • Keep the password for your chosen build handy before you start extracting.
  • Check the firmware note (5.05+) in the source listing against your own setup.
