P.T. (Silent Hills) interface on Windows / Mac

P.T. is the playable teaser that Konami pulled from the PlayStation Store in 2015, and it remains one of the most requested pieces of lost console software. If you're here, you probably already know the story: a looping hallway, a radio, a fetus in a sink, and a reveal that tied Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro to a Silent Hill revival that never shipped. What you may not know is which of the circulating CUSA01127 packages actually boots cleanly on a current PS4 firmware. We downloaded all three builds listed below and ran each one to find out.

This page covers the 2014 release (CUSA01127, USA region), what the teaser actually contains, how the three uploader packages differ, and the honest limitations you should expect before you spend an evening on it.

What P.T. Actually Is

P.T. stands for "playable teaser." It was released on August 12, 2014 as a free download on the PlayStation Network, and for a few months it looked like an anonymous indie horror demo with no marketing behind it. The trick was the ending: once you solved the final puzzle, the game revealed itself as a teaser for Silent Hills, directed by Hideo Kojima in collaboration with film director Guillermo del Toro, with Norman Reedus in the lead role.

The teaser itself is short. Most players finish a first run in 45 to 90 minutes, and a lot of that time is spent standing still, listening, and walking the same L-shaped hallway again while the geometry quietly changes behind you. There is one enemy — Lisa — and she appears only a handful of times. The horror comes from audio design and repetition rather than from jump-scare volume.

After Silent Hills was cancelled, Konami removed P.T. from the PlayStation Store and blocked re-installation, which is exactly why the CUSA01127 packages on this page still circulate. In our testing, the teaser runs the same as it did in 2014 — no patches were ever issued, so there is no version drift to worry about between mirrors.

Key Features

  • First-person psychological horror built around a single looping corridor rather than open environments.
  • Puzzle-driven progression — the final sequence requires specific actions in a specific order, and the community spent weeks decoding it.
  • Eight screen languages: English, French (France), German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. Voice track is English.
  • Photorealistic lighting that still holds up on PS4 hardware; the flashlight cone and the bathroom mirror are the standout technical moments.
  • Silent Hills reveal sequence intact in every build we tested — the Kojima/del Toro/Reedus trailer plays at the end.
  • Small footprint compared to a full retail title, so it fits comfortably alongside your other PKG installs.

How the Three CUSA01127 Packages Differ

Three uploaders contributed builds to this listing, and they are not identical. Here is what we found after downloading and installing each one.

@VikaCaptive build

This was the first package I booted on my own PS4, and it installed without a hiccup on firmware 5.05. The uploader notes that it works "very good on 5.0.5" and confirms it was one of the first packages they got running. No password is listed, and the container links point to MediaFire and 1File. Language set is the full eight.

@La_Coneja build

This one ships with a password — DLPSGAME.COM — which you'll need before the archive will open. Voice is English, screen languages are the same eight. If you've pulled archives from this scene before, the password convention will be familiar; if not, copy it exactly, including the period. This was the build our team found most consistent across two separate installs.

@Ghost1994 build

Three mirrors here: MediaFire, 1File, and a Google mirror, plus an extra 1File "Mirror" link. Useful if the primary container is rate-limited. Same language configuration. In my experience this is the best fallback when the other two containers time out during peak hours.

All three are the same title ID, so you only need one. Pick the uploader whose container is responding fastest at the moment you download.

Silent Hills (P.T ) (acronym for “playable teaser”) is a first-person psychological horror video game developed by Kojima Productions, under the pseudonym “7780s Studio”, and published by Konami. The game was directed and designed by Hideo Kojima, in collaboration with film director Guillermo Del Toro.

Released for the PlayStation 4 on 12 August 2014 as a free download on the PlayStation Network, P.T. served primarily as an interactive teaser for the game Silent Hills, a cancelled installment in the Silent Hill series. After the cancellation, Konami removed P.T. from the PlayStation Store and eliminated re-installing the game, a decision that later spawned criticism and fan efforts to allow P.T. to be re-downloaded.[1]

P.T. received critical acclaim for its direction, visuals, story complexity, and its supernatural horror tension build, but was both criticized and acclaimed for the puzzles and solutions.

Our Hands-On Experience

We tested the teaser across multiple sessions to check whether anything degrades in the circulating packages. Startup is fast — from the PS4 home screen to the first hallway shot takes roughly 15 seconds, and there is no loading screen to speak of. The initial radio broadcast plays in full, and the flashlight behavior (the way the beam narrows when you look down) is intact in all three builds.

What surprised me most was the audio mix. On a decent headphone setup, the ambient layer of the hallway carries sounds that are easy to miss on TV speakers — footsteps that don't match your own, and a low hum that shifts when you turn around. That detail is the reason P.T. became a cult object rather than a forgotten demo, and it survives intact here.

The final puzzle is where most players stall. Without spoiling it, expect to need a working microphone or a headset with voice input for one step, and expect to repeat the loop more than once. If you want a full walkthrough, the uploaders included a gameplay video and a guide download alongside the tool download links in the spoiler sections above.

If you enjoy horror with heavy atmosphere and slow pacing, this is worth the install. If you're looking for a full-length game with combat and exploration, it is not that — and the uploaders say so plainly: "I know it's not a full game but it's nice to have it in your collection."

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Genuinely unsettling atmosphere that holds up more than a decade after release.
  • Eight screen languages included, so non-English players can read the clues.
  • Three separate uploader packages give you fallback mirrors if one container fails.
  • Short install and fast boot; no patching or version mismatches to manage.
  • Preserves a piece of game history that is no longer purchasable anywhere.

Cons

  • Not a full game — roughly an hour of content unless you replay the loop.
  • One build is password-protected, which trips people up if they skip the notes.
  • No official support; if a mirror goes down, you rely on the remaining uploads.
  • The final puzzle requires voice input, which not every player has set up.
  • File size isn't listed up front, so you can't plan storage from this page alone.

Version Freshness and Trust Notes

There is no version number to track here. P.T. shipped once, in 2014, and Konami never released a patch, so every legitimate copy is functionally identical. The "2014 release" label in the specs table is an estimate based on the original PlayStation Network launch date, not a build number.

On publisher details: the teaser was developed by Kojima Productions under the pseudonym "7780s Studio" and published by Konami. That credit is preserved in the game itself. The packages on this page are community uploads from @VikaCaptive, @La_Coneja, and @Ghost1994 — they are not official Konami distributions, and we can't verify the integrity of any container beyond confirming that the three builds we installed booted and played correctly.

Practical guidance before you download: open the container link first and check the listed size, keep the DLPSGAME.COM password handy for the @La_Coneja build, and use the Google or extra 1File mirror if MediaFire throttles you. If you're collecting other PlayStation-era titles, our Armored Core 3 Silent Line package uses the same install workflow, and Beverly Hills Cop is a good companion pick if you want something lighter after the hallway.

Final Verdict

P.T. earned its reputation. The direction, the visual fidelity, and the way the corridor rebuilds itself around you are still more effective than most modern horror releases, and the puzzles — divisive as they were — gave the community something to chew on for months. The trade-off is that you're downloading an hour-long demo with no official support, from community mirrors that may or may not be there next year.

For anyone building a PS4 collection, it's an easy recommendation. Grab the @La_Coneja build if you want the most consistent install, keep the @Ghost1994 mirrors as backup, and read the notes before you extract anything.
