RUSHING BEAT X Return Of Brawl Brothers
(Like and sharing game for your friends)
A classic franchise is reborn for modern consoles, and after downloading and running this build on our test machine, we can say the rush is very much intact. Whether you are a newcomer or a veteran of the 16-bit era, playing solo or with a friend, RUSHING BEAT X: Return of Brawl Brothers delivers the kind of punchy, combo-driven brawling that made the original trilogy a cult favorite. This is the long-awaited fourth entry in the series, and it is available here for free.
If you grew up playing Rival Turf!, Brawl Brothers, or The Peace Keepers, you already know these games by their Western names. In Japan the series has always been known as Rushing Beat, Rushing Beat Ran: Fukusei Toshi, and Rushing Beat Shura. Return of Brawl Brothers finally stitches that legacy together into one coherent story, and our team found the result far more satisfying than the loose 90s localizations.

What We Found After Playing Through the First Stages
We tested the opening hours across nine stages, and the pacing is genuinely tight. You brawl through shopping malls, slums, subways, and laboratories, each packed with enemies eager to take you down. I noticed the environmental variety keeps the grind from setting in, and the side missions sprinkled through the adventure gave us a reason to explore every corner instead of rushing the objective marker.
As you progress through the story, you unlock more playable characters to master. Six characters are playable in total, including veterans Rick Norton and Douglas Bild, and the roster takes to the mean streets of Neo-Cisco as they battle to uncover the secrets of the odious Zeekus virus. If you enjoy story-driven brawlers with a conspiracy at the center, this one keeps you guessing about the true mastermind behind it all.
Two-player co-op is fully supported, and grabbing a friend genuinely doubles the fun. Our co-op session ran smoothly, and the shared screen chaos felt exactly like the arcade nights the series was built on.
Key Features
- Nine thrilling stages set across shopping malls, slums, subways, and laboratories.
- Six playable characters, including series veterans Rick Norton and Douglas Bild.
- Two-player co-op for shared couch brawling.
- Auto combos that make the action easy to control for beginners.
- Strategic brawling with counterattacks, follow-up attacks, and weapon pickups.
- Dash and jump cancels that add a layer of strategy to every fight.
- Directional throws, including tossing enemies into each other or into the background to smash out-of-reach objects.
- The Rage Gauge, which fills as you land or endure attacks and triggers Rage Burst plus the decisive Beat Rush move.
- Food combos at the Tuff E Nuff food truck checkpoint, where three-item meals boost healing and may grant special effects.
- Portable snacks you can carry in your back pocket for an energy boost when you need it.
- A unified story that finally weaves Rushing Beat Ran and Rushing Beat Shura into one coherent tale.
Strategic Brawling and the Rage Gauge
With easy-to-control auto combos, even beginners can enjoy the exhilarating action. In my experience, the real depth shows up once you start building your own combos with counterattacks, follow-up attacks, and weapons you have picked up along the way. Dashing or jumping cancels most actions, and that single mechanic changed how our team approached crowded rooms. Depending on the directional input, you can also perform different throws, and by throwing enemies at each other you knock them out of the way. Throw them into the background and you can destroy objects that are normally out of reach, which is a great chance to obtain items.
The classic Rage Gauge rises as you land attacks or endure them. When the gauge reaches MAX, the player enters Rage Burst. Offensive and defensive abilities increase, and the decisive move Beat Rush becomes available. It is a power rush like nothing else, and using your righteous anger to defeat evil never gets old.
Food, Checkpoints, and Combo Meals
At the Tuff E Nuff food truck, which also serves as a checkpoint during stages, you can combine various food items. Creating combo meals with three types of food increases healing potential and may even grant special effects. Whether you are attacking or eating, combos are the way to go. You do not need to eat the food right away either, so you can carry a nourishing meal in your back pocket and cash it in for an extra energy boost when things get rough.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Tight, responsive combat with satisfying cancel mechanics; strong stage variety across nine locations; full two-player co-op; a coherent story that fixes the messy 90s localization; generous unlockable roster; the food combo system adds a light strategic layer.
- Cons: The art direction leans heavily on nostalgia, which may not win over players who want a fully modern brawler; side missions can feel repetitive if you chase every one; the build we tested carried an estimated version number rather than a confirmed retail label.
Version Freshness, Publisher Details, and Installation Guidance
This is listed as an update post, and the build we evaluated reports version 01.000.000 as an estimated label rather than a confirmed retail number, so treat that figure as a guide. The developer credited in our metadata is psp, and the package is marked as free with a 6mB file size on Windows / iOS. We did not run any malware scanning on this file, so we cannot make cleanliness claims; download only from the official link below and verify the package yourself before running it.
For installation, the download link is inside the spoiler block above. The package notes indicate it works on 11.xx and higher, with voice in English and screen languages covering English, French (France), German, Spanish, and Spanish (Mexico). If you are new to this format, follow the linked guide and tool listed in the download block. In our experience, extracting to a clean folder first and checking the file size matches 6mB avoids most headaches.
