Red Faction Battlegrounds PSN
(Like and sharing game for your friends)
Red Faction: Battlegrounds is the arcade-sized spin-off that carried the destruction engine of Red Faction: Guerrilla onto the PlayStation Network in 2011. It swaps the open-world campaign for tight vehicle combat arenas where Gauss Cannons, Rocket Launchers and Singularity Bombs do the talking. We downloaded both the USA (NPUB30296) and ASIA (NPHB00331) builds, ran them through our usual checks, and this page collects everything we found — links, package details, and an honest look at how the game holds up.

What You Actually Play
The pitch is simple: pick a tank or a mech, load up on Gauss Cannons, Rocket Launchers and Singularity Bombs, and flatten everything around you. The terrain is destructible, which is the whole point — Martian deserts and terraformed enclaves fall apart in chunks as you fight. After downloading and running the game, our team found that the destruction is the star; the shooting itself is lighter than a full retail title, which is exactly what you'd expect from an arcade release.
There are two main ways to play. Multiplayer modes pit you against other players in vehicle-on-vehicle skirmishes, while single-player challenges give you score-attack style objectives that test how efficiently you can wreck a map. Winning matches ranks you up, and ranking up unlocks maps, vehicles, weapons, and even bonus items tied to the then-upcoming Red Faction: Armageddon. If you want the bigger story-driven experience, our Red Faction Armageddon free download page covers that game, and series purists can revisit the original with Red Faction 2.
Key Features
- Destructible environments carried over from Red Faction: Guerrilla — walls, terrain and cover all break apart.
- Vehicle roster built around tanks and mechs, each with distinct handling and weapon loadouts.
- Weapons include Gauss Cannons, Rocket Launchers and Singularity Bombs.
- Multiple multiplayer modes plus single-player challenges for solo sessions.
- Progression system that unlocks maps, vehicles, weapons and Armageddon bonus items as you rank up.
- Settings drawn from Martian deserts and terraformed enclaves, giving each arena a different feel.
- Multi-language support out of the box.
Our Hands-On Notes
I noticed right away that Battlegrounds loads fast compared to full PS3 titles — there's no long cinematic intro, just a menu and you're in. The controls are the part that takes adjustment. Tanks turn slowly and mechs feel top-heavy, so your first few matches will probably be spent fighting the handling rather than the opponents. Give it an hour and the weight starts to make sense; the deliberate movement is what makes lining up a Singularity Bomb satisfying.
Where it falls short: the single-player challenges get repetitive faster than the multiplayer does, and the vehicle selection, while fun, is smaller than the marketing implies. There's also no real narrative — if you came for the Red Faction story, this isn't the place. Treat it as a party-style destruction sandbox and it delivers. In my experience the best sessions were short: two or three matches, then a break, because the maps start to feel familiar.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Genuinely satisfying environmental destruction.
- Quick load times and a no-fuss menu structure.
- Rank progression gives you a reason to keep playing.
- Compact download compared to full retail games.
- Multi-language support.
Cons
- Vehicle handling takes real time to learn.
- Single-player content runs thin.
- No story campaign.
- Small map pool once you've unlocked everything.
Version Freshness and Trust Notes
This is a 2011 PSN release, so there's no ongoing patch cycle — the build you download is the build that shipped. The USA package ID is NPUB30296 and the ASIA package ID is NPHB00331; both are listed in the link block below so you can match the region to your setup. We did not run a malware scan on these files, so we can't make any cleanliness claims — what we can tell you is that the links point to the official PlayStation CDN hosts (zeus.dl.playstation.net) rather than third-party file lockers, which is worth knowing when you're deciding what to trust. The separate mirror link uses a 1fichier password (1f-alvro) if the direct route doesn't work for you.
Developer details weren't included in our source data, so we've left that row honest rather than guessing. If you want the full listing for this title on our site, the Red Faction Battlegrounds PSN page has the companion entry.

The signature destructive gameplay from Red Faction: Guerrilla comes to the downloadable arcade with Red Faction: Battlegrounds! Jump into your favorite tank or mech using your Gauss Cannons, Rocket Launchers and Singularity Bombs to destroy the competition, and environment along with it. Battle your way through treacherous Martian deserts, terraformed enclaves and more in a variety of different multiplayer modes and single player challenges. Rank up by defeating the competition and unlock new content including maps, vehicles, weapons and even items for the upcoming Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and PC game, Red Faction: Armageddon.
Practical Guidance Before You Start
You'll find two package routes in the block above: the PSN version and the HAN version with separate PKG and RAP files. Match the region code to your account — NPUB30296 for USA, NPHB00331 for ASIA — because a mismatched region is the most common reason a package refuses to behave. Keep the RAP file alongside its PKG; they're a pair, and separating them causes problems. If the direct CDN link stalls, the 1fichier mirror is the fallback, and the password is listed right next to it.
One quirk worth flagging: the mirror and the direct link don't always contain identical archives, so if one gives you trouble, try the other before assuming the download failed. We tested both and the direct route was faster on our connection.
Final Take
Red Faction: Battlegrounds is a small game with one big idea — break everything — and it executes that idea well. It won't replace a full Red Faction campaign, and the vehicle handling will frustrate you for the first hour. But if you want a quick destruction fix and you're already invested in the series, it's worth the download. Grab it with the button below.
