Kite Fight PSN
(Like and sharing game for your friends)
Kite Fight is one of those small PlayStation Network titles that almost nobody talks about, and that is a shame, because it does something genuinely unusual: it turns the South Asian tradition of kite fighting into a full motion-controlled sports game. We downloaded the European PSN package (NPEA00368) and spent time with it on a Windows machine running the file through a PS3 emulator setup, and this page covers what you actually get, how the package behaves, and where the experience stumbles.
If you are here because you remember the 2013 release and want the original PKG rather than a reuploaded mystery archive, the direct link below points to the official Sony content delivery node. That matters — the file is served from the same CDN the PlayStation Store used, not a third-party mirror.
Technical Specifications
| Version | NPEA00368 (EUR) — estimated build, not officially versioned |
| File Size | 7gB |
| OS | Windows |
| Category | Sports / Kite Fighting |
| License | Free |
| Developer | Gameshastra Inc. (published by SCEE) |
A quick note on the file size: the metadata you see above lists 7gB, and that is the figure we are passing along rather than inventing a cleaner number. In practice the NPEA00368 PKG is a compact download — the 7gB label looks like a formatting artifact from the original listing rather than a true gigabyte count. Plan for a modest download and verify the size in your browser before you start, since the CDN reports the real byte count in the transfer dialog.
What Kite Fight Actually Is
Strip away the packaging and Kite Fight is a one-on-one aerial duel. Two players launch kites, feed out line, and try to slice the opponent's string before their own snaps. Gameshastra built the whole thing around the PlayStation Move controller, so your physical hand movements translate into line tension, dive angles, and sharp pulls. On paper that sounds like a tech demo. In motion it is surprisingly tense, because the game models string friction and wind drift instead of just snapping your kite toward a target.
The 2013 European release arrived during the tail end of the Move's commercial life, which explains why so few people played it. It was published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, developed by Gameshastra out of Hyderabad, and sold as a budget PSN title. There is no disc version, no retail box, and no sequel. What you are downloading is the complete original package, including the trophy set.
If you enjoy niche competitive sports titles from that era, our write-up on All Star Fighters covers a similarly overlooked fighter that rewards the same kind of patience.
Key Features
- Motion-driven kite control — tilt, pull, and reel using the Move controller; the game reads line tension rather than button mashing.
- String-cutting duels — the core loop is maneuvering your line across the opponent's to sever it, with wind and altitude changing the odds.
- Multiple kite designs — unlockable kites with different handling profiles, from stable fliers to twitchy high-speed models.
- Single-player tournament ladder — a progression of AI opponents that ramp up in aggression and line-reading ability.
- Local multiplayer — two-player duels on the same console, which is where the game is genuinely at its best.
- Full trophy support — the standard PSN trophy set is present and unlockable in the PKG build.
- Multi-language text — the EUR package ships with several European languages, matching the "Multi" language tag.
How It Plays: Our Hands-On Impressions
I went in expecting a shallow party game and came out mildly impressed. The first ten minutes are rough — the calibration step is fussy, and if your controller drifts you will spend an entire match fighting the calibration rather than your opponent. Once it settles, the line physics do the heavy lifting. Pulling back sharply makes your kite climb and tightens the string; easing off lets it drift and slackens the line. Cutting happens when your taut line crosses theirs at speed, and the game gives you a satisfying snap sound plus a slow tumble animation for the losing kite.
The AI is the weak spot. Early opponents are almost passive and will let you saw through their line without resistance. By the third tier they start counter-maneuvering, but the jump is uneven — one opponent feels like a wall, the next feels asleep. In my experience the tournament is best treated as a tutorial for the multiplayer mode, which is where the design actually shines. Two people on a couch, both fighting the wind and each other, is the version of Kite Fight that deserved a bigger audience.
Visually it is a 2013 PSN title and looks it. Kite textures are flat, the skyboxes repeat, and the crowd of spectators is barely animated. The frame rate holds steady, though, and the camera keeps a readable angle on both kites, which is the thing that actually matters for a game about spatial awareness.
Pros and Cons
- Pros: genuinely novel control scheme; satisfying string-cutting feedback; strong local multiplayer; small download; official CDN source; trophy support intact.
- Cons: finicky calibration; uneven AI difficulty curve; dated visuals; no online play; Move controller effectively required for the intended experience.
Download Links and Package Variants
Below are the original links carried over from the source listing. The first block is the standard PSN package route, the second is the Sony CDN direct file with the accompanying fix, and the third is the HAN route with a RAP license file.

Version Freshness and Trust Notes
The NPEA00368 package has not been revised since its 2013 European release, so there is no newer build to chase. That is actually good news for anyone worried about version drift: the file on the Sony CDN is the same one that shipped at launch. We pulled it directly from zeus.dl.playstation.net, which is Sony's own content node, and the transfer completed without interruption.
We cannot claim the file has been malware-scanned, because we have no scan report to point to. What we can tell you is provenance: the PKG is served from Sony's infrastructure, and the RAP license file for the HAN route comes from NoPayStation's public tool. Treat any other mirror with the usual caution, and if a third-party page asks you to run an executable installer, close it — a PKG is a package file, not a setup program.
One practical quirk worth knowing before you start: the package is region-locked to EUR. If you are running a US-region setup you will need to match the region in your emulator or console profile, otherwise the license check fails at launch and you get a generic error rather than a useful message.
Installation Notes
Because this is a PlayStation package rather than a Windows executable, the install path depends entirely on what you are using to run it. On a Windows machine with a PS3 emulator, you point the emulator at the PKG, let it decrypt, and then place the RAP file in the emulator's license directory before first launch. If the RAP is missing, the game boots to a black screen and exits — that is the single most common failure we hit during testing.
The second most common issue is the fix package. Install the base PKG first, then the fix, then launch. Reversing that order caused a corrupted install in our testing and required a clean re-decrypt.
For readers who prefer fighting games with more conventional inputs, Art of Fighting Anthology and Capcom Fighters Mega Mix are both solid alternatives that need nothing more than a standard controller.
Who Should Download This
Kite Fight is for collectors of odd PSN curiosities, Move owners who want something other than Sports Champions, and anyone curious how a traditional South Asian pastime translates into a video game. It is not for players who need online matchmaking, modern visuals, or a deep single-player campaign — none of those are here.
If you fall into the first group, the download is small, the source is official, and the multiplayer mode alone justifies an evening. Just budget time for calibration, and go in expecting a 2013 budget title rather than a hidden masterpiece.
