How It Plays

In my experience, the first thing you notice is the weight transfer. The cars feel planted but not glued — you can unsettle the rear under braking if you're careless, and that's exactly the point. The 2006-spec V8 engines scream through the surround mix, and the tire model punishes you for carrying too much speed into a corner exit.

Our team spent several hours in the career mode, and the progression curve is fair. You start with a lower-tier team, earn points, and unlock better machinery. The AI isn't perfect — it can be overly cautious in traffic — but it fights you for position rather than just following a racing line. That alone puts it ahead of many racers from the same era.

The damage model deserves a mention. Progressive dirt and car damage aren't just cosmetic. A front wing that's taken a knock will cost you downforce, and you'll feel it through the wheel. You can't just ignore contact and keep pushing at full pace.

Where it falls short: the frame rate can dip when the full grid bunches up at the start, and the emulator setup requires some tinkering to get stable performance. The menu system also feels dated compared to modern racers. But once you're on track, those issues fade.
