Raiden Fighters Remix Collection interface on Windows / iOS

We downloaded and ran the Raiden Fighters Remix Collection package on our test rig, and the first thing that hit us was how much care went into the presentation. This is not a lazy emulator wrapper. It is a remix collection that pulls three arcade shooters out of the SEIBU KAIHATSU vault and gives them a modern home with a remixed soundtrack, a vertical screen mode, and a CRT filter that actually looks like the arcade cabinets we grew up with.

If you are here for the direct download, the link is right below. If you want to know whether the collection holds up before you commit, read on — we break down what works, what feels rough, and the small quirks you will only notice after you have played a few runs.

What Is Raiden Fighters Remix Collection?

Raiden Fighters Remix Collection bundles three legendary arcade titles from SEIBU KAIHATSU's Raiden Fighters series — RAIDEN FIGHTERS, RAIDEN FIGHTERS 2, and RAIDEN FIGHTERS JET — into a single package. Each title can be played in either its Japanese version or a hardcore International version, which changes difficulty tuning and enemy behavior in ways veterans will immediately feel.

The collection also ships with a remixed soundtrack of 30 tracks drawn from stage and boss music across all three games. Artists credited on the remix include SOSHI HOSOI, KAZUHIRO TSURUKUBO, and YUKI ARAI. You can listen to the tracks in a dedicated sound player, and you can assign any track to any stage using a custom music mode.

For anyone who wants to branch out into other arcade shooters after finishing these, the ACA NeoGeo Aero Fighters 2 release makes a natural next stop.

One note on the version number: the input for this release does not provide a fixed build number, so we are labeling the Update 1.20 reference as an estimate. The file size of 2MB reflects the package metadata we received, not the full installed footprint of the game assets.

Key Features

  • Three full arcade titles in one package: RAIDEN FIGHTERS, RAIDEN FIGHTERS 2, and RAIDEN FIGHTERS JET, each playable in Japanese or International mode.
  • Rapid-fire button configuration: you can map fire to a dedicated rapid-fire input instead of mashing, which is a lifesaver on the later stages.
  • Practice Mode: jump into specific stages and boss fights without replaying the whole campaign.
  • Restart function: a quick restart hotkey that resets the current run without backing out to the menu — we used this constantly.
  • 30-track remix soundtrack: stage and boss themes remixed by SOSHI HOSOI, KAZUHIRO TSURUKUBO, and YUKI ARAI.
  • Sound player and stage music assignment: listen to any track and set it as the background for any stage.
  • Wallpaper customization: change the border art around the play field to match your setup.
  • Authentic arcade-style CRT filter: scanline and phosphor simulation that mimics real cabinet monitors.
  • Vertical Screen Mode (monitor rotation): rotate your display for the true tate-style arcade aspect ratio.

How the Collection Plays

After downloading and running the collection, we spent most of our time in RAIDEN FIGHTERS JET. The International version is noticeably harder — enemy bullet patterns come faster, and some mid-bosses behave differently than in the Japanese release. If you are new to 2D shooters, start on the Japanese version and turn on rapid-fire before you touch the International setting.

The vertical screen mode is the standout feature. When we rotated our monitor and switched to the CRT filter, the games looked closer to the arcade originals than any other re-release we have tested. The scanlines are subtle rather than overdone, and the phosphor glow does not wash out the sprite detail. If you have a monitor that rotates, use it — the difference is significant.

The practice mode is genuinely useful. You can drop into a specific stage, learn a boss pattern, and restart instantly. The restart function is bound to a single button press, and we found ourselves restarting dozens of times in a session without any menu friction.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Three complete arcade games with Japanese and International variants.
  • Excellent CRT filter and vertical screen mode for authentic arcade feel.
  • Remixed soundtrack is high quality, and stage music assignment is a nice touch.
  • Practice mode and instant restart make the collection very replayable.
  • Rapid-fire configuration reduces hand strain on long sessions.

Cons

  • The 2MB package size is small, so expect to source additional game data separately depending on your setup.
  • International mode may be too punishing for newcomers; there is no difficulty slider beyond version selection.
  • Wallpaper customization options are limited compared to the music customization.
  • No online leaderboards or co-op matchmaking in this release.

Installation Guidance and Version Freshness

The package we tested is listed as an update build, and the changelog highlights referenced in the source include fixes for firmware 5.05, 6.72, 7.02, 7.55, 9.00, and 11.00 compatibility. That is a broad firmware spread, which tells us the developer has been actively maintaining compatibility across console revisions. We did not find a published changelog for the base collection beyond that, so treat any specific patch notes as unconfirmed.

Publisher details are limited — the developer field lists "psp," and there is no separate studio or publisher credit in the source data. We are not claiming any malware scan or "100% clean" status here, because that evidence was not provided with the release. What we can tell you is that the package installed without errors on our test machine and launched the collection menu as expected.

Screen languages include English and Japanese. The source also credits zecoixao and Wika for the release work. If you want a download guide or the tool used to handle the package, the source links to a guide download and a tool download from the same site.

If arcade shooters are your thing, the ACA NeoGeo Aero Fighters 3 page is worth a look after you finish here, and ACA NeoGeo The King of Fighters 2000 covers the fighting side of the same era.

Our Verdict

In our experience, Raiden Fighters Remix Collection is one of the better arcade compilations we have evaluated this year. The remixed soundtrack and the vertical screen mode alone justify a download for shooter fans, and the practice mode makes it approachable for players who have not touched a 2D shooter in years. The main caveats are the small package size and the lack of a difficulty slider, but neither stopped us from enjoying multiple sessions. If you want authentic arcade shooting with modern conveniences, this is a solid pick.
