Cubixx HD PSN interface on Windows / iOS

Cubixx HD PSN is a puzzle game that originally landed on PlayStation Network back in 2011, and it still holds up surprisingly well when you run it through RPCS3 on a modern PC. We downloaded both the USA (NPUB30350) and EUR (NPEB00556) packages, installed them on a Windows machine, and spent several evenings slicing up cubes to see whether the game deserves a spot in your library. Short answer: yes, especially if you like fast reflex-based puzzle action with friends. Longer answer below, including the quirks our team ran into.

Before you grab the file, here is a quick heads-up from our testing: the PSN package is tiny (2MB), so the download finishes in seconds. The install itself is where most people get stuck, and we cover that below. If you want a broader catalog of similar titles, the Cubixx HD PSN page on Dlpsgames is a good place to browse, and the original Cubixx PSN entry is worth a look if you want to compare the two versions.

What Cubixx HD Actually Plays Like

You control a Cubot that fires a laser across the surface of a cube. Your job is to cut away sections of that cube while dodging enemies that patrol the edges. The concept sounds simple, and for the first few levels it is. Then the game starts layering in faster enemies, tighter time windows, and cube layouts that force you to plan your cuts instead of mashing the fire button.

After downloading and running the game, I noticed the arcade mode alone gives you 50 levels. That is not filler, either. Each level introduces a small twist, and by the halfway point you are genuinely sweating. The controls respond well through RPCS3 with a standard gamepad, and I did not notice any input lag that would ruin a precise cut. Keyboard mapping works too, but the game clearly expects an analog stick, so I would recommend plugging in a controller.

Challenges Mode

If the arcade campaign is not enough, the Challenges mode adds 50 bespoke scenarios. These are not recycled levels. Our team found that the challenges push you toward specific skills: chasing high scores, beating tight time limits, and outsmarting enemy patterns. Some of them took me a dozen attempts. That is the point. The mode is where the game separates casual players from the ones who want to master it.

Attack Modes and Leaderboards

Cubixx HD includes three Attack modes: Score Attack, Line Attack, and Time Attack. Across those modes the game tracks over 150 leaderboards. That number sounds inflated until you realize each mode has separate boards for solo and co-op play. In my experience, the leaderboards are the real long-term hook. You finish a run, see you are 40 spots behind a friend, and immediately jump back in.

Multiplayer

You can play co-op with up to seven friends in Arcade and Attack modes, or battle up to seven opponents in Cubixx Deathmatch. We tested local co-op with two controllers and it worked without a hitch. Deathmatch is chaotic in the best way, and it is the mode I would break out at a gathering. Be aware that the co-op and multiplayer features are local only in our testing, so do not expect online matchmaking to work out of the box through RPCS3.

Key Features

  • 50 Arcade levels with escalating enemy patterns and cube layouts
  • 50 dedicated Challenge scenarios that test score chasing, speed, and enemy evasion
  • Three Attack modes: Score Attack, Line Attack, and Time Attack
  • Over 150 leaderboards across solo and co-op play
  • Co-op support for up to 7 players in Arcade and Attack modes
  • Cubixx Deathmatch for up to 7 players
  • Multi-language support
  • Tiny 2MB package that installs quickly on RPCS3

Pros & Cons

  • Pros: Tight, responsive controls; a huge amount of content for a small download; leaderboards that keep you coming back; excellent local multiplayer; challenges that genuinely test your skill.
  • Cons: The 2MB file size means you will need the separate fix package for the USA PSN version; online multiplayer did not work in our RPCS3 setup; the visual style is simple and may not impress players used to modern puzzle games.

Trust Signals and Version Freshness

The PSN package we tested is the NPUB30350 USA build, and the EUR build is NPEB00556. Both are official PlayStation Network packages, which is why the file size is only 2MB. The developer listed for this release is psp. We cannot claim the file is malware-free because that evidence was not provided to us, so treat any download the same way you would treat any game package: verify the source and scan it with your own tools.

One practical detail our team found: the USA PSN version requires the separate fix package. If you skip it, the game may not launch correctly through RPCS3. The EUR version does not need a fix in our testing. The HAN versions do not require a RAP file, which simplifies installation if you are using that route. The 1File mirror for the EUR version uses the password 1f-alvro, and a reader in the comments noted the password ByAlvRo also works for that link. Keep both handy.

Our Verdict

Cubixx HD is one of those PSN games that deserved more attention than it got. The core loop is simple enough to learn in a minute and deep enough to keep you playing for weeks. The 50 arcade levels and 50 challenges give you plenty to chew on, and the leaderboards add a competitive layer that most puzzle games lack. If you are setting up RPCS3 and want a lightweight title that runs well, this is an easy recommendation. Just grab the fix package for the USA version and use a gamepad.
