After spending several hours with Colin McRae DiRT, I noticed that the game shines in its Rally Cross mode where you race against multiple opponents on mixed surfaces. The AI is aggressive but fair, and the damage system means you cannot simply ram your way to victory. The Hill Climb events are particularly punishing, requiring precise throttle modulation. Our team found that the online multiplayer still has a small active community, though you may need to coordinate sessions. The game does not hold your hand; there is no rewind feature like in later DiRT titles, so every mistake costs you time.
