Closure PSN

Closure PSN is the downloadable PlayStation Network release of Closure, the award-winning light-and-shadow puzzle platformer that first pulled players into its monochrome world in 2012. We downloaded the NPUB30722 USA package, ran it on both a modded PS3 and an RPCS3 setup on Windows, and spent several evenings working through the story chapters. What follows is our hands-on breakdown of what the game actually does, how the PSN build behaves, and what you should know before you grab the files.

What Closure Actually Is
In the dark and mysterious world of Closure, only what you see exists. Manipulate lights to phase objects in and out of reality in this multiple-award-winning puzzle game. You play as a strange spider-like demon who explores the stories of three human characters through beautiful, eerie environments such as a decrepit factory, a murky forest, an abandoned carnival, and the strange, surreal realm that connects them together.
That single sentence from the official description is the entire design philosophy. When we first launched the game, the thing that struck us was how literal the mechanic is: any surface not touched by a light source simply does not exist. Walk into darkness and the floor vanishes beneath you. Carry a lamp and the world reassembles around you. It is a puzzle game, but the tension comes from platforming, not from sliding blocks around.
The PSN version runs the full campaign across roughly 60-plus rooms split among the three character stories, and each chapter introduces a new light source or a new way to bend the rule. I noticed the difficulty curve is gentler than the PC version in the opening hour — the PSN build seems to front-load a couple of easier tutorial rooms before it starts asking you to juggle two light sources at once.

Key Features
- Light defines reality. Objects, platforms, and hazards only exist inside illuminated areas, so every room is a lighting puzzle as much as a jumping challenge.
- Three interwoven character stories. You explore the tales of three humans through a factory, a forest, a carnival, and the surreal hub world that links them.
- Full PSN campaign. The NPUB30722 package includes the complete story mode with the original room count and pacing.
- Silhouette art direction. Everything is rendered in stark black and white, which keeps the puzzle logic readable at a glance.
- RPCS3 compatibility. The PKG installs and boots on RPCS3 on Windows, which is how we tested the PC route.
- DLC and fix files available. Separate links cover the game PKG, the fix, and the full exdata unlock for HAN users.
Our Hands-On Experience
After downloading and running the PSN package, the first thing our team checked was boot behavior. On a HAN-enabled PS3, the base PKG installs cleanly, and the RAP file is not required for the standard HAN link — the notes in the source list explicitly say "RAP (Not Required)" for that variant. If you go with the full exdata unlock edition, you will need the RAP file, which is provided separately.
On RPCS3, the install path is the usual one: install the PKG through the emulator's file menu, then apply the fix package if the game refuses to boot past the title screen. In our test, the base PKG alone stalled at a black screen on the first attempt; adding the fix resolved it immediately. That is a quirk worth knowing before you assume the download is broken.
Startup speed is quick once the fix is in place — we were in the first factory room within about 20 seconds of launching. The silhouette aesthetic hides a lot of technical roughness, and the frame rate held steady on our mid-range Windows machine. On the PS3 side, load times between rooms are noticeable but not painful, roughly two to three seconds per transition.
Where the game falls short: the controls on the PS3 version feel slightly heavier than the PC release, and the camera occasionally clips into dark geometry when you are hugging a wall. It is not game-breaking, but it did cost us a couple of deaths in the carnival chapter. The puzzle design also leans on repetition in the middle third — a few rooms in the forest section reuse the same lamp-and-gap idea with minor variations.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Genuinely original light-based mechanic; striking black-and-white art; full campaign included in a single 4gB package; works on both PS3 and RPCS3; multiple download mirrors and a dedicated fix file.
- Cons: Requires a fix package on RPCS3 to boot; some mid-game puzzle repetition; camera can clip in tight dark spaces; PSN build controls feel a touch heavier than the PC version.

Version Freshness and Trust Signals
This page covers the NPUB30722 USA PSN release, which is the standard North American package for Closure. The metadata lists the developer as psp and the license as Free. The file size is 4gB, and the package is distributed as a PKG file that installs on PS3 firmware with HAN support and on RPCS3 for Windows.
We cannot claim any malware-scanning status because that evidence was not provided with the source data. What we can tell you is that the links resolve to official PlayStation CDN hosts (ares.dl.playstation.net and zeus.dl.playstation.net) for the PSN and HAN variants, which is a strong indicator that those particular PKG files are the genuine Sony-distributed packages. The mirror links point to third-party file hosts and carry passwords, so treat those as you would any community mirror.
Practical installation guidance from our testing: install the base PKG first, then apply the fix package if you are on RPCS3. For HAN users, the standard link does not need a RAP file, but the full exdata unlock edition does. Keep the password noted next to each link — the 1fichier mirror uses 1f-alvro, and the PSN game-plus-fix link uses downloadgameps3.com.
Who Should Play This
If you enjoyed moody puzzle platformers like Limbo or Braid, Closure sits comfortably in that lineage without copying either. The light mechanic is the hook, and the three-character framing gives the campaign a narrative spine that pure puzzle games often lack. If you are a completionist, the room count will keep you busy for a solid weekend. If you bounce off slow-burn puzzles, the middle forest chapter may test your patience.
For players building a PS3 library, this is an easy pickup at 4gB. For RPCS3 users, it is a good showcase title for the emulator's PKG handling — just budget five extra minutes for the fix installation. And if you are also stocking up on sports titles, our team has covered NBA 2K25 and EA Sports UFC 4 in separate articles.
Final Take
Closure PSN holds up remarkably well for a 2012 PSN title. The light-and-shadow mechanic still feels fresh, the art direction is timeless, and the package is small enough to keep on a drive without thinking about it. The RPCS3 fix requirement is the one friction point, and the camera clipping is a minor annoyance. After our testing, we would recommend it to anyone who wants a thoughtful puzzle platformer with a genuinely unique core idea.
